On July 21, the 1400mm 20-high reversible cold rolling mill of Zhejiang Jinlei Soft Magnetic Materials completed a successful trial run and rolled out its first qualified coil of high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel, marking the official launch of trial production for the production line.
The No.1 rolling mill was tailor-made by MCC-SFRE, with an annual production capacity of 80,000 tons. It is specially developed for rolling high-grade oriented silicon steel applied in new energy equipment and transformers. The supporting No.2 unit is currently under installation.

Founded in 1999, Zhejiang Jinlei invested a total of 1.8 billion RMB in its silicon steel project with an overall annual capacity of 250,000 tons. Adopting eco-friendly pickling-free production lines, the company mainly produces Hi-B oriented silicon steel and high-grade non-oriented silicon steel. Its subsidiary focused on iron core processing boasts an annual processing capacity of 20,000 tons, providing one-stop deep processing services including transformer iron cores and custom-sized silicon steel strips.
The industry has also rolled out three-in-one self-bonded composite electrical steel. Its three-layer composite specifications cover 0.30mm, 0.45mm and 0.60mm. This material triples stamping production capacity and drastically cuts processing costs. Patent cooperation is now open to steel mills, motor manufacturers and stamping factories.
Driven by growing demand for high-end silicon steel from the new energy and power grid sectors, intelligent rolling mills, eco-friendly manufacturing processes and innovative composite electrical steel will jointly boost quality improvement and cost reduction across the entire silicon steel industrial chain.
